This may be favorite of Godard’s films. I’ve seen breathless a few times, but it has been a while. This story follows a woman constantly disappointed by her marriage, her job, and her poverty. She eventually finds her way to prostitution, which is referred in French as “the life,” and the story eventually ends in tragedy.

Luis Buñuel is one of my favorite directors and his movies have a theme of power and domination. The story follows an orphan who is taken advantage by her new guardian. When she falls in love with an artist, she must work to remove her self from the control of her domineering guardian.
